Searches for "The One Who Watches Bedrock" and "The One Who Watches MCPE" are common, and the answer has two halves. The mod this site covers, Pixel_Coder's The One Who Watches, is a Forge mod for Minecraft: Java Edition. It cannot be installed on Bedrock, Pocket Edition, consoles or the Windows Bedrock app. At the same time, other creators have made Bedrock add-ons inspired by it, which is why the search results get confusing.
Why a Java mod can't run on Bedrock
Java Edition and Bedrock Edition are separate games that happen to look alike. Java mods are compiled Java code loaded by Forge or another loader. Bedrock add-ons are packs of JSON definitions, models and scripts that Bedrock reads through its own add-on system. A .jar file means nothing to Bedrock, and an .mcaddon means nothing to Java. There is no converter that turns one into the other.
The community add-ons
Several Bedrock add-ons use the same name or a close variant. At least one of them openly credits Pixel Coder's Java mod as its inspiration. These are independent projects by other creators:
- They are not made or maintained by Pixel_Coder, as far as we can tell from the public listings.
- Their behaviour, update schedule and supported Bedrock versions are set by their own authors.
- They are not what the download button on this site provides.
We do not link to them, because we cannot vouch for every site that rehosts add-on files. If you go looking, read the next section first.
If you install a Bedrock add-on anyway
- Prefer the creator's own listing or Minecraft Marketplace over mirror sites that wrap downloads in ads or shorteners.
- Check which Bedrock versions the add-on states it supports, and compare with your game version.
- Apply it to a copy of a world first. Add-ons enable experimental toggles in some cases, and those choices can be permanent for that world.
- Be wary of any page that asks you to install an extra app or browser extension to "unlock" the download.
Our safe download guide applies just as well to add-on files.
If you can switch to Java
If you own Java Edition (it ships together with Bedrock on PC in the current Minecraft bundle), the original mod is the most direct way to get Pixel_Coder's version of the experience. Set up Forge for 1.20.1 and follow the install guide, or grab the jar from the download section.
In short
The One Who Watches mod is Java-only. Bedrock players have community-made alternatives with similar names, which are separate projects. Treat them as such, and you will know exactly what you are installing.
