Does The One Who Watches work on Minecraft 1.21 or 1.21.11?

No 1.21-series build is listed. Why a 1.20.1 jar won't work there, and what you can do.

Not at the moment. The mod's CurseForge page lists two game versions, 1.20.1 and 1.19.2, both on Forge. The most recent files, released February 11, 2026, target those same two versions. There is no build listed for 1.21, 1.21.1, 1.21.11 or any other 1.21-series release.

We will update this page if that changes, but we will not announce a port that has not been published.

Why the 1.20.1 jar won't work on 1.21.11

A mod is compiled against one specific version of Minecraft and its loader. Between 1.20.1 and the 1.21 series, Minecraft changed a great deal of its internal code, and the modding ecosystem shifted too, with many projects moving to NeoForge for newer versions. Dropping the 1.20.1 jar into a 1.21.11 instance does one of two things:

  • Forge refuses to load it and tells you the mod needs a different Minecraft version.
  • The game crashes during startup.

Neither one gives you a working mod. Editing the jar's version metadata to force it to load just moves the crash to later.

How to play it today

Keep a separate 1.20.1 Forge profile for The One Who Watches. You can still play vanilla 1.21.11 or your other modded profiles alongside it; the Minecraft Launcher and the CurseForge app both support multiple installations. The install guide sets this up in a few minutes, and the file is in the download section.

How to tell when a 1.21 build arrives

  • Follow the mod's CurseForge page and check its Files tab for a new game-version label.
  • Check which loader the new build uses. If it is NeoForge rather than Forge, your setup will need to change too.
  • Check which GeckoLib build it expects, since that changes between game versions.

About "1.21 versions" on other sites

When a popular mod lacks a version people want, unofficial reuploads appear with that version number in the title. If you see a 1.21.11 file for this mod anywhere other than the author's own listing, be cautious. Our download safety guide explains what to check.
